Job Description

Artisans on Fire Video Editor position will be responsible for editing and delivering high-quality video content for various mediums, including TV and digital commercials, social media content like YouTube shorts and Instagram REELS, and brand story videos for brands.

We’re a small group of people who try really hard to make cool stuff, and to enjoy ourselves while doing it.

It’s really important that you submit a demo reel .  Without it - how will we know if you’re reel? :) We can’t consider you for our team without a reel.

The two main roles are below:

  1. Video editor with current and trendy taste skewed towards modern video styles and storytelling. This means you not only watch YouTube video influencer content, but you

put it into practice in your filming and editing. We utilize a lot of trending techniques in

our videos, so the right fit for the role will come with similar experience. Narrative

stories told in a modern way would be the best way to describe what we do for most brands we work with.

  1. Learning our unique mix of video techniques that makes up our modern video production process. It’s important that you watch a few of our videos on our site before applying. We want to make sure you’re a good fit for our style. It’s a mixture of hyperlapse, flow motion, super-slow motion, seamless transitions, hyper zooms, narrative storytelling, and sound design.  We’re always trying to find new and interesting ways to say the things we want to say.

If you’re interested in doing new things in your work and constantly learning and evolving - this could be a great fit for you. We even provide you with education content and specific coursework we’d have you take if you were to join us.

We really want you to want to be great at what you do.  We’re driven to make cool things, and you’d be a great fit for us if you feel the same way. We recently won our first EMMY and we’d love you to help us win at least a dozen more. If this doesn’t seem like you - no problem.  But, these are the qualities that tend to thrive with us.

Does this sound like you?:

  • I am technically curious and I'm always on the lookout for new and innovative techniques or tools that can help make a project better or faster.
  • I have been around video production long enough to know that there will be the o ccasional late nights and weekends as part of this role and I am completely okay with that and I’ll be able to be there for the team when they need me.
  • I exude a positive presence, energy, and demeanor—even when deadlines are tight and the pressure is high.
  • I am humble and hungry to grow, even though I have experience. I strive to be the best in my role and recognize and invite the need to continue growing.
  • I have a sense of urgency—I think fast, move fast, and learn fast.
  • I own my work—When I tell someone I’ll do something, it gets done. I take accountability when I mess up and welcome appropriate criticism.
  • I have people’s back—I will pitch in when someone needs help.  I like being part of a team that feels the same way.
  • While no one loves critical feedback, I try not to let it affect me too much.  No need to get awkward or weird.  It’s fine.
  • I have a passion for the entrepreneurial spirit and what comes along with it. I want to work on a small, cool team that really tries to make different content that we’re proud of the entrepreneurial spirit of companies and what comes along with it.

Who you are when it comes to post-production proficiency if you’re right for the position:

  • I’m proficient in the editing tab of DaVinci Resolve. I can navigate complex node trees in the color tab and I am also proficient using different codec exports in the delivery tab. Go ahead and quiz me during the interview, I’ll be ready.
  • I can navigate Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects seamlessly through the use of dynamic linking.
  • I know how to keyframe and add motion blur to give a scene some extra sauce and help make a video pop.
  • I can key, rotoscope and composite elements to deliver a super clean final product and I’ve done this before on multiple projects. Happy to show you examples if needed.
  • I understand that modern style videos will require learning trending post-production techniques work and that means I’ll be using Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and LRTimelapse. I either already know it, or I am excited to learn it.
  • I keep my project files clean and organized because I understand that other team members will need to be able to find stuff sometimes when I am not around.

Additionally, experience with timelapses and hyperlapses would be a big plus for this role.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Strong post-production skills using the latest version of the Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Media Encoder, and Audition)
  • Knowledge of green screen post-production workflow
  • Familiar with multiple formats of compression and export resolutions for web, TV, LED’s, etc.
