Security Systems Engineer

Job description

In this role you will need design and draw complex Electronic Security System (ESS) and Closed-Circuit Camera System (CCTV) equipment and components; and infrastructure to support ESS, communication systems and power systems.

Clearance Requirements:

• Must have a minimum SECRET clearance, or the ability to obtain one.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Design, create, and modify ESS designs from initial concept to release for construction (RFC)
• Interpret specifications and requirements and prepare requests for information (RFIs) when needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints and system wiring schematics.
• Assist project manager in planning and scheduling work packages.
• Work closely with Engineers and the Project Management team to modify or change designs as needed.
• Modify, update, and prepare red-line & As-Built drawing sets.
• Provide project status/updates to the respective project manager and team leader.
• Utilize controlled documentation and government standards, application guides, and industry best practices to complete onsite installations at various locations, worldwide.
• Apply existing knowledge base to rapidly obtain proficiency on newly developed components and systems.
• Leverage manufacturer’s literature and technical support to quickly develop a finished product.
• This work requires up to 40% travel to domestic and overseas sites.

Additional development and responsibilities may include.

• Install, program, troubleshoot, and test electronic security system components such as:Input-Output devices

Layered Network switches.
RF network systems
Battery Backup systems
Command, control, and display equipment
Access control and credentialing systems (e.g., Genetec, Lenel, AMAG, Vindicator, Software house)
CCTV cameras and video management servers (e.g., Genetec, Bosch, Vindicator)
Sensors, such as motion detectors (PIR), balanced magnetic switches (BMS), vibration detectors, buried line sensors (BLS), fiber optic sensor systems (FOSS), and RADAR/microwaves.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, while maintaining attention to detail
• Working knowledge of network infrastructure and architecture
• CCNA, or CompTIA Security+ recommended.
• AutoCAD a plus
• Associate Level Vendor Specific Certification preferred (e.g., Intrusion Detection, CCTV or Access Control Systems).

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

• 1099 contract

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Easton, MD 21601: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Security System Engineering: 5 years (Preferred)
• CAD: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• PMP (Preferred)

Security clearance:

• Secret (Preferred)
