The primary purpose of the Painter classification is to paint, stain and/or varnish interior and exterior surfaces of county buildings and facilities.

Job Duties

Prepare work area and surfaces for painting, finishing or wall covering. Mask/tape areas for painting and cover floors and furniture with drop cloths. Repair surfaces by scraping, patching, plastering, sanding and filling cracks and holes. Use rollers, brushes and/or electronic painting tools to stain and varnish walls, stairwells, fixtures, furniture, curbs, exterior surfaces, doors, posts and floors. Utilize lift equipment to reach high surfaces. Mix paints and select colors to match existing surface or dÃcor. Paint decorative stencils. Move furniture, clean, and reset work area when work has been completed. Operate stripping machine to paint lines in parking garages/lots. Prepare and enter record of jobs that have been completed in the work order system. Order and/or inventory paint, tools, materials, and supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED, with three (3) years of commercial painting experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additional Requirements

Must maintain a valid Ohio driver's license.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None required.
