Position Summary Assume front line responsibility and accountability for managing the delivery of patient care provided by clinical practice nurses and clinical technicians staff. Responsible for the management and training of the clinical assistance staff (clinical practice nurses and clinical technicians), including setting goals and objectives in accordance with the departmental and college goals. Perform ongoing planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring of activities to ensure consistent, high level patient care delivery. Facilitate efficient and cost effective use of resources in daily operations.
Job Responsibilities - Responsible for maintaining department's Clinical Policies and Procedures manual. Develop, review, and revise policies for new or updated procedures. Maintain JCAHO readiness, DOH and OSHA compliance.
- Develops practices that are customer service oriented. Investigates, evaluates, and resolves patient complaints. Monitor levels of clinical quality and service and develop strategies for improvement.
- Supervises and coordinates clinical support staff. Orient and train all new clinical employees; evaluate staff performance, develop corrective action plans as needed. Ensure compliance with annual compliance requirements.
- Function as resource for planning, implementing, and evaluating specific activities and programs at each practice location. Utilize advances in technology to enhance work flow and work processes.
- Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice, policies, procedures. Develops and provides in-service training to clinical practice nurses and clinical technicians. Implements outcome focused quality improvement programs.
- Organize & manage clinical operations in the practices ensuring that the equipment & facilities are in good working order. Set up appropriate maintenance & servicing of equipment. Maintain service contracts. Obtain quotes for new/upgraded/broken equipment.
- Oversee the daily clinical care management and support activities of the outpatient faculty practice. Maintains fiscal responsibility for ensuring successful operations and evaluates workflow to ensure maximum efficiency without compromising efficacy.
- Participate in professional development through membership in professional organizations, publications, and presentations. Maintain clinical and managerial competencies through the participation of continuing education opportunities.
Education - Master's of Science Degree in Nursing
Experience Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience. Prior experience in supervisory role required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Demonstrated leadership competencies, including ability to motivate staff, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work effectively as a member of a team, in a busy, fast paced environment.
Licenses and Certifications - Graduate of approved school of nursing with current registration in New York State as Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate
