Our dynamic team of cancer genetic counselors at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a new team member to join our expanding clinical practice. Genetic counselors provide genetic counseling to patients considered at significant cancer risk due to an underlying pathogenic mutation in a cancer gene and/or their personal and family medical history of cancer. Genetic counselors facilitate the genetic testing process and communicates the implications of the result to the patient, and their healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain family histories, provide genetic counseling and education to patients and their families with adult heredity cancer syndromes
  • Develop and implement genetic counseling services for high-risk patients undergoing DNA testing for cancer susceptibility genes
  • Serves as resource to patients, families, staff and physicians
  • Represent the organization in initiatives on cancer genetics
  • Supervise genetic counseling graduate students performing practicum training
  • Provide genetics education to healthcare providers, schools and community groups
  • Contribute to departmental efforts to develop continuing genetics education courses to be offered in-state for continuing medical education (CME)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling
  • Minimum two years experience; Cancer genetic counseling experience preferred
  • American Board of Genetic Counseling Certified or Board-eligible
  • Ability to obtain WA DOH licensure within six months of employment
  • Genetic counseling training (MS degree)
  • Broad knowledge of genetics
  • Ability to communicate complex imformation in simple way
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Self-awareness
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Process improvement skills
  • Knowledge of NCCN guidelines in regards to genetic testing recommendations
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery
  • Ability to navigate organizational politics

The annual base salary range for this position is from $84,448.00 to $126,651.20 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
