FACULTY POSITIONS IN Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has tenure-track faculty positions available at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels. The research focus for this recruitment is medically relevant microbiology, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi, with emphasis on host-pathogen interactions, immunology of infections, cellular microbiology and evolutionary dynamics within the microbiome. The MMG faculty are members of the Graduate Program in Microbiology and Immunology (PMI) as well as other graduate programs. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is consistently among the top ten in NIH-funded medical schools in the U.S. and is located in one of America’s most livable cities.
Requirements for Assistant Professor include a MD and/or a PhD in the field of Microbiology or Immunology, 3 or more years of post-graduate research experience and a strong publication record. Associate Professor applicants should have a MD and/or PhD in the field of Microbiology or Immunology, 6 years of experience as a faculty member in a University, a strong publication record, and the potential to develop and sustain a strong independent research program and attract extramural grant support. Applicants for appointment as Associate Professor must also have an established track record of independent publications and funding. All faculty members are also expected to contribute to graduate and medical school teaching activities.
