Job Description

The WINNER Butcher plays a vital role in supporting WINNER Butcher by performing daily butchery tasks and educating sales staff and customers on the basics of meat. This role also contributes to Meat Production for all WINNER locations by butchering and producing meat products for internal company transfer and sale.

You ensure that WINNER's high standards of bountiful meat presentation are consistently maintained, enhancing the shopper's experience. You strive to create and maintain a warm, friendly, and positive shop environment, fostering an inclusive butchery culture within both the retail and meat production teams.

As a WINNER Butcher, you exhibit excellent safety, sanitary, cutting, and meat inventory practices. You communicate effectively and help find solutions to issues as they arise.

• Meat Fabrication: Butcher whole animals and animal primals into subprimals and case cuts, including pork, lamb, beef, and poultry. Trim, grind, and prepare meats, collaborating with the production team to ensure fresh and abundant meat production.
• Serving Customers: Assisting customers in finding their desired products and fulfilling their orders.
• Cleanliness & Maintenance: Organize, clean, and maintain all butcher stations, tools, and machinery. Keep retail meat cases clean, appealing, and well-stocked throughout the day.
• Receiving & Inventory Management: Assist the head butcher with accepting, unloading, and storing protein deliveries. Manage and rotate meat inventories to ensure freshness.
• Safety & Documentation: Ensure all safety standards are upheld throughout the store at all times. Fill out all safety and processing logs promptly.
• Communication: Regularly communicate with your team and the company using the designated business communication apps.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

We seek team members with the following qualities:

• Butchery Experience: Minimum 2 years experience with whole animal butchery in a similar setting (e.g., stand-alone butcher shop, grocery store department, or restaurant with in-house butchery).
• Culinary Experience: Familiar with cooking techniques, employ good knife skills, can follow recipes.
• Food Safety: Knowledge of food safety and handling requirements.
• Teamwork: Willingness to work as part of a team.
• Integrity and Respect: Honesty, respectfulness, and courtesy in interactions with others.
• Creativity: Ability to be creative when faced with challenges.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for 8+ hours.
• Availability: Avaialble to work some mornings, afternoons, and must work weekends.

Please note that as a food retail business, our busiest times are around the holidays, and vacation time may be limited during these peak periods.
