The Hartley Lab (P.I.: Catherine Hartley) in the Department of Psychology at New York University is actively seeking an Assistant Research Scientist – Part Time, Non-Exempt (20 hours/week). The role entails contributing to studies that delve into learning and decision-making across various developmental stages. The anticipated start date for this position is July 15, 2024. This is an ideal opportunity for a driven individual aiming to enhance their research experience in anticipation of pursuing a graduate-level career. The Assistant Research Scientist's key responsibilities encompass: Participant recruitment and testing, which includes behavioral, psychophysiological, and brain imaging studies. Due to the developmental nature of our work, this will require interfacing with parents and children and may necessitate occasional schedule flexibility (like working during evenings or weekends). In-depth analysis of datasets. Development of experimental paradigms.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $18-25/hr for 20 hours per week and up to 27 hours per week. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
A successful candidate will possess:
· A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field.
· Previous research experience.
· Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Additionally, the following qualifications are highly desired:
· Robust computational, statistical, and technical aptitude (e.g., Matlab, Python, R).
· Experience in analyzing neuroimaging data using platforms such as SPM, FSL, AFNI, or similar.
· A genuine interest in, and perhaps experience with, cognitive neuroscience research, especially in developmental populations like children and adolescents.
